Trainee story

Since joining Cafico International in 2020, I have gained excellent knowledge and really grew as an accountant. Coming from outside of the finance sector I was worried as I only had a basic knowledge of accounting, which came from my degree, but any worries were quickly put at ease through the support and guidance from my colleagues.

Through the Cafico International Trainee Programme, I have completed all of my ACCA exams at the first sitting, while also getting hands on experience on a portfolio of international clients, which is as varied as will come. Cafico International has given me great exposure to all elements of accounting, and I have gained experience on aircraft leasing, CLO’s, asset-backed securities and investment funds, to name but a few.

The work is also as varied and there is rarely a day that I will be working on the same thing as the day before. I could be preparing management accounts or financial statements, liaising with a client on ad-hoc requirements, or liaising with auditors and tax advisors and preparing the required supporting workings. The support from the team is second to none. There is always a colleague on hand to answer any questions or queries I might have and there is a real feeling of “no question is a stupid question” within the team. There is a great atmosphere in the Cafico International team, and you can see that through the nights out or even on the office floor where you can have the craic with your colleagues.
